Food Review – Living Harvest Tempt Coconut Hemp Milk (Original & Unsweetened) – Lazy Girl Vegan

I love almonds, but after drinking almond milk almost daily for a year, as well as eating raw almonds and using face products that contained almond oil, I noticed allergic reactions on my skin. It turns out that almonds and other tree nuts are some of the top offenders on the allergy chart. Luckily, I received two samples of Living Harvest Tempt Coconut Hemp Milk and found some new favorite milk as a replacement!

Though I haven’t been tested for a tree nut allergy, it seems I have a milld intolerance to almonds and walnuts in particular. The reaction isn’t so bad with cashews or hardly at all with coconuts. To be safe, I decided to say goodbye almond milk and opted for soy milk or rice milk instead.

There are several plant-based milk alternatives at the grocery store, both on the shelf and in the dairy fridge section. The Living Harvest brand is shelf-stable prior to opening, but then should be refrigerated and enjoyed shortly after opening. It tastes freshest during the first four days.

This hemp milk contains vitamins, minerals, all 10 essential amino acids, and omega 3 & omega 6 “good” fats. With a serving size of one cup, you’ll receive 30% of your recommended daily value of calcium and 25% of B12.

Ingredients of Unsweetened Coconut Hemp Milk

Hemp nut base (filtered water, hemp nut [shelled hemp seed]), coconut cream, natural vanilla extract, tricalcium phosphate, sea salt, gellan gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, riboflavin, vitamin B12

INGREDIENTS OF Original COCONUT HEMP MILK

Hemp nut base (filtered water, hemp nut [shelled hemp seed]), coconut cream, pure cane sugar, natural vanilla extract, tricalcium phosphate, sea salt, gellan gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, riboflavin, vitamin B12

I drank both flavors as individual glasses of milk with a meal. I also used both of them in smoothies, coffee and ate them with granola. This milk is delicious. You’ll probably be very surprised if you’re not familiar with plant-based milks. This one has a pleasant taste. I loved drinking the original on its own, especially as a complement to my breakfast or snacks, and I liked using the unsweetened one in smoothies.

Aside from being delicious, Living Harvest Coconut Hemp Milk is non-gmo certified by The Non GMO Project, vegan, gluten-free, and carrageenan-free. The unsweetened version contains zero grams of sugar, one gram of saturated fat and two grams of protein per serving.

Hemp Yeah! Hemp Milk by Manitoba Harvest is Plant-Based with Purpose

Several years ago, with a heavy heart, I announced that Manitoba Harvest had discontinued making Hemp Bliss Hemp Milk. So imagine my surprise when I spotted hemp milk from Manitoba Harvest at Whole Foods just recently. Yes, they are back in production, but with a new look, nutritional profile, and name. Hemp Yeah! Hemp Milk isn’t simply a repeat of Hemp Bliss.

Hemp Yeah is formulated toward the latest trends with little to no sugar, everyday fortification, and ingredients that suit almost any diet – from top allergen-free to keto. And each serving contains 3500 milligrams of Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids.

Hemp Bliss was sweetened, to combat some of the naturally grassy taste of hemp. But Hemp Yeah embraces that flavor in two unsweetened and one lightly sweetened variety. Let us know if you like the new taste! Leave you rating and review below once you buy and try this brand. It helps others make an informed purchasing decision.
