Salary: $40,000 – $60,000

You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be a self-starter, and able to anticipate what needs to be done and take action. You must have good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The role will require using skills below in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

The role will eventually be based in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Over the next few months, there could be locations where project work will be occurring in the greater LA area.

Be responsible to develop and implement analytical methods for QC/QA
Work with other team members to implement solutions regarding process improvements and new processes by providing input from an analytical and methods perspective
Work in a self-managed environment
Have the desire to learn new technologies and leverage existing chemistry in innovative ways.
Be flexible and provide skills in other areas as needed. Example: process improvement/new chemistry development if needed

BS or BA in chemistry preferred
1+ years research experience in an organic or analytical chemistry lab.
Understands the principles of chromatography.
1+ years of experience in flash chromatography and associated analytical techniques (TLC, HPLC-UV, HPLC-MS, NMR).
Familiarity with analytical instrumentation. Experience in LCMS, GCMS, GC-FID, HPLC-UV preferred.
Familiarity with basic organic chemistry laboratory skills (acid/base chemistry, liquid-liquid separation, distillation, recrystallization).
Ability to work in a GLP and GMP environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in bio-based chemical manufacturing plants
Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles

The Extraction Lead will be responsible for the consistent, sanitary and safe production of cannabis extracts utilizing company policies to successfully uphold quality and consistency of all products produced. The individual has the responsibility of delegating duties such as extracting, winterizing, refining and purifying cannabinoids using various extraction and distillation techniques.

Essential/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regular communication with the Management Team is to be maintained to ensure all operational needs are met and any procedural problems are addressed and resolved proactively.
  • Oversight of decarboxylation, extracting, infusion, and processing cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form using solvent based processes.

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or related field.
  • Commercial cannabis laboratory experience is required
  • Extensive hands on experience with purification, separation, and crystallization of various compounds, preferably including cannabinoids.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate, and tend equipment and various instruments according to SOPs.
  • Participates in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Record production and test data for each product batch, such as the ingredients used, temperature, test results, and time cycle, and pressures during the extraction process.
  • Examine product samples during production to evaluate quality, color, and texture and document the results.
  • Manages, supervises and directs the activities of assigned staff.
  • Perform all necessary equipment maintenance and safety checks in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Exercises authority and discretion concerning operational issues.
  • Ensure that the production space is tidy, clean, and sanitary throughout daily operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
