Hemp History Week is now simply, ‘Hemp Week’

The Hemp Industries Association is launching Hemp Week this year as the official rebrand of the 11th annual, Hemp History Week campaign. The theme for 2020 is “Hemp. It’s Everything.” and will national events running from June 6-12, 2020 will focus on educating consumers on the industrial uses of cannabis sativa, L, known in English as “true hemp.”

“We really want to take this opportunity to begin educating consumers on the vast possibilities that hemp provides,” said Campaign Manager Ryann Hinch.

“If we are going to grow the hemp economy we first need to show people their choices. This new direction for Hemp Week will begin looking outside our industry to engage with people that may have never thought hemp was a viable and sustainable replacement for many of the products they use on a daily basis. Hemp really can be everything!”

Activist roots of trade association

Grassroots organizers, farmers, producers, and advocates from all walks of life will virtually come together from June 6-12, 2020 to educate and raise awareness on the diverse uses of hemp and the unparalleled environmental, entrepreneurial, and economical impacts of the plant. This is especially important now that domestic hemp cultivation and production are protected by federal law.

“Hemp can replace quite a few products, and if we, as a nation, start asking for, and buying, hemp products, we’ll help the American farmer answer the call for an available and renewable crop,” said HIA President Rick Trojan.

“We at the HIA have a very serious responsibility to grow the hemp economy on behalf of our members and for the good of our planet. We feel that shifting Hemp Week to this new direction provides consumers with the opportunity to learn more about this impressive plant and help them make the choice to ask for hemp-derived products.”

“Whether it’s Hemp Week or Hemp History Week, this is still an historic time for all cannabis industries,” said Chris Conrad, founder of the Business Alliance for Commerce in Hemp and first president of the HIA. “With our environment teetering on the brink, we need to be looking towards the future and how sustainable and restorative hemp agriculture can play a key role in protecting life on Earth.”

Plant of 50,000 uses … and more

Hemp Week’s 2020 theme “Hemp. It’s Everything.” will feature educational videos illustrating the many uses of hemp as well as discussions and webinars with hemp farmers, processors, and entrepreneurs. Traditionally the campaign was limited to a single week but will now be a year-round effort with new initiatives being launched throughout the year.

“Hemp is here. Retailers are on our side and see the potential,” said Hinch.

“The work done in previous years by the Hemp History Week staff and the many sponsors helped get us there. Now we need to turn our focus to consumers and get them to participate in this hemp economy. For the good of our farmers, our industry as a whole, and our planet. That takes more than just one week a year.”
