Homemade Granola with Hemp Seed Hearts

Shop-bought granola is often laced with sugar, but making a healthier, homemade version of this breakfast staple is as easy as 1,2,3. Our recipe makes use of Good Hemp Seed Hearts, which means you’ll get a protein-packed hit of energy in the morning. Pour Good Hemp Seed Milk over the crunchy goodness for a refreshing start to the day, or sprinkle it over our hemp heart ice cream for a treat.

Pre-heat oven to 180°C.

Put the oats, nuts, Good Hemp Seed Hearts and nibs into a large bowl and combine. In another bowl thoroughly mix the oil, syrup, salt and hot water.

Pour the liquid mixture into the oat mixture and combine thoroughly.

Spread the mixture out evenly onto a large flat baking tray and put in oven.

After 15 mins give the granola a good stir to ensure even browning and scrape any oats that are sticking off the bottom of the tray. Give the tray a good shake and put back into the oven.

Cook for a further 15 mins or until golden-brown.

Allow to cool before adding the dried fruit and storing in an airtight container.

Once you realize how easy and delicious it is, you’ll be saying buh-bye to any of that crap you bought before.

This recipe gets two check marks for being both vegan AND gluten free. In just about 30 minutes, your house will be wafting with the sweet smells of this crunchy baked goodness. You can throw this homemade hemp granola on basically anything. I recommend putting some on smoothies or vegan ice cream for starters!

  • 1 C gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 C hemp hearts
  • 1 tbsp ground chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 C brown rice syrup or coconut nectar
  • 1/4 C maple syrup


Preheat oven to 300°F.

Combine all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then stir in brown rice syrup and maple syrup until everything is coated evenly.

Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet for 25 minutes, flipping once or twice through baking.
