FAQ about CBD!

Using CBD Oil

As more research is conducted and authorise, the list of medicinal and therapeutic benefits of CBD continues to increase. CBDs have been shown to remedy, treat, and manage a variety of ailments, conditions, discomfort, and numerous disorders by providing antiemetic, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-tumour/anti-cancer, anxiolytic, anxiolytic and antidepressant effects.

Specific examples include acne, arthritis, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Prion/Mad Cow Disease, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Schizophrenia, Crohn’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and insomnia. CBDs also help to stimulate appetite and relieve nausea as a digestive aid. CBDs act fast and do not cause side effects or symptoms of withdrawal. By providing a variety of universal health benefits, CBDs continue to amaze medical researchers.

CBD is legal in the United Kingdom and is often sold as a food supplement. All helloCBD products are manufactured using hemp oil and are entirely legal in the UK. To be legal in the United Kingdom, CBD Oil must contain no more than 0.2% THC. On the other hand, cannabis oil products, with a higher amount of THC, are not allowed for selling in the UK.

Right Dose Of CBD

The right dose of CBD varies from individual to individual. It is best to start with the smallest dose possible when beginning to take CBD. Everyone reacts to different supplements differently. As with any new product, it is essential to get to know how your body responds to CBD before the dosage increases. In general, larger individuals may prefer a higher dose of CBD compared to smaller individuals.

Should i take too much?

To meet your personal needs, you can quickly scale up just a few milligrams at a time. If you have a medical condition, you should always consult a health care professional before consuming CBD. A doctor can tell you how to use CBD and which doses may be most beneficial.

Yes, it can interact with other medicines as CBD inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzyme. Grapefruit compounds inhibit the same group of proteins, and this is why doctors advise patients not to eat grapefruit shortly before or after taking medicine. In some situations, is it advisable to monitors the blood level by a physician while taking CBD Oil.

Tested Positive for THC or THC-COOH?

A consumer who uses high-quality, full spectrum CBD Oil is very unlikely to be tested positive for THC or THC-COOH if the serving amount is not high. The consumption of CBD Oil in high amount may result in positive screen urine. We recommend consumers to be fully informed of the level of THC in the products they are using, also, of the specific regulations set by their employers.

CBD Products Made From Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

Full Spectrum CBD Products Made from Hemp

CBD or Cannabidiol oil is just one of many therapeutic compounds found in hemp flowers. That is why the best hemp products – Ned’s – include a full spectrum of hemp derived cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Potent healing can be found in full-spectrum CBD products. We honor that goodness by extracting our hemp oil from organically grown Colorado hemp flowers and carefully handcrafting small-batch, cannabidiol oil products designed with your health in mind.

What Is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum CBD refers to CBD rich hemp oil that is abundant in cannabinoids, bioactive terpenes, flavonoids, and other therapeutic compounds naturally found in hemp flowers. Due to our premium organically farmed hemp flowers and gentle extraction methods, which you can read about later, Ned’s hemp oils are loaded with all of these and chlorophyll.

Because CBD is the most most potent and widely researched active ingredient in hemp extract, full spectrum hemp oil is often dubbed full spectrum CBD in honor of its famous therapeutic constituent.

Cannabidiol or CBD for short is a phytocannabinoid and one of the many bioactive compounds found in full-spectrum hemp oil. Studies show that CBD can play an important role in modulating processes related to inflammation, pain, anxiety, healing, immunity, new brain cell formation, and a broad range of other biological functions.

Known as phytocannabinoids, plant-based cannabinoids like CBD or CBN interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system to produce a variety of desired health effects. Endocannabinoid system signalling is involved in the operations of all of our other body systems. These include the immune, skeletal, respiratory, muscular, endocrine, digestive, excretory, circulatory and nervous systems.

Because cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system to trigger high level reactions across a wide spectrum of biological processes in our bodies, they are a prime research target for a broad range of therapeutic applications including hormonal balance, pain management, sleep, and anxiety. This range of responses across different systems is perhaps why CBD products have often been oversimplified as a cure all.

Why Use Full Spectrum CBD Over CBD Isolate?

Similarly to how whole foods have greater effects than lone vitamins, research suggests that a combination of cannabinoids and other bioactive compounds found in full spectrum hemp extract may have greater therapeutic potential than CBD alone.

This theory posits that due to the interactions and chains of reactions that compounds like, cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, chlorophyll, sugars, fiber, vitamins, fats, and other bioactive molecules within a whole food have when they are consumed together, they are more beneficial and better able to be absorbed by the body in this form.

In the same way, studies suggest that the unique effects of different cannabis strains may be due to the way that combinations of cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolics interact with our body and with each other when compared to the effects of CBD in isolated form.

What Is In Ned Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Oil?

The main bioactive compounds identified in the hemp plant and present abundantly in hemp flowers are phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolics.

Phytocannabinoids are plant based cannabinoids that mimic or complement the actions of our body’s endocannabinoids (i.e. cannabinoids produced by the body) and interact with the endocannabinoid system. The main active ingredients responsible for hemp’s rise to therapeutic fame, CBD, THC, CBN and over 120 other phytocannabinoids can be found in the hemp plant. Their variations have been known to produce slightly different effects on our bodies.

Ned’s full spectrum hemp oil and hormone balance blend oil contain the cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD), cannabichromene (CBC), cannabigerol (CBG), and cannabidivarin (CBDV).

Terpenes are aromatic hydrocarbons found in plants and animals. They are the largest and most diverse class of organic compounds and over 200 terpenes have been identified in the cannabis plant. Different combinations of Terpenes are behind the unique scents and flavors we associate with different cannabis strains.

Like cannabinoids, terpenes are synthesized in the hemp flower’s glandular trichomes and their effect profile can change in the presence of other compounds. Studies have observed that terpenes, by way of what scientists have dubbed the entourage effect, are capable of producing synergy with respect to the treatment of pain, inflammation, depression, anxiety, and cancer and infections.

Ned’s full spectrum hemp oil contains the terpenes Caryophyllene, Humulene, Linalool, Myrcene, and Guaiol.

Ned’s hormone balance blend oil contains Caryophyllene, Humulene, and Eucalyptol.

Phenolics (Hemp Flavonoids Are Phenolic Compounds)

Phenolics are aromatic phytochemicals found in most plant tissues including those of herbs, fruits, and vegetables, which all contain phenolic compounds. Linked to various health-protective events, phenolics contribute to the color, flavor, and astringency of plants while acting to protect them from harm. Like CBD, many phenolic compounds found in hemp are excellent sources of natural antioxidants.

Flavonoids, the same phenolics that give dark chocolate it’s superfood status, are the single most important group of phenolic compounds found in food and they are also the main phenolics found in the hemp plant. Studies have associated regular consumption of flavonoids with the decreased risk of a number of chronic conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Benefits of Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Oil

At Ned, we like to think that the more the merrier when it comes to the good natural stuff inside of the plants we consume. So, in contrast to CBD isolate which contains only Cannabidiol and nothing else, we presume that full-spectrum hemp oils are better because they are whole-plant (or in our case whole hemp flower) extracts. This means they are processed in a way that allows them to retain the maximum amount of powerful naturally occurring hemp compounds including a wide array of cannabinoids, terpenes, phenolics, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.

Research suggests that through a phenomenon known as the entourage effect, cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolics work together to synergistically enhance each other’s potential as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anxiolytic, and neuroprotective properties to name a few. The entourage effect is why many experts, including the self-appointed types like ourselves and our customers, believe that full-spectrum CBD products are more powerful and desirable than isolated CBD.

Hemp derived CBD oil along with its fellow bioactive compounds has become known for its potential to help with a variety of ailments related to the endocannabinoid system. Due to the endocannabinoid system’s involvement in everything from virus response to helping you fall and stay asleep at night, CBD has an array of targets for its therapeutic actions. Unsurprisingly, studies have shown that CBD appears to play a role in a number of positive outcomes that include activity against MRSA and antibiotic resistant bacteria, as an antioxidant, a neuroregenerative, an anxiolytic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and much more.

It’s important to note that although some studies have been done in humans, most take place in rats or petri dishes. Also, both patients and studies report the various benefits observed with CBD on seizures, cancer cells, or violent behaviors in autism can be strain specific, suggesting that there is more involved in how full spectrum hemp oils exert their sanative actions than CBD alone.

Hemp CBD for Pain

Taking cbd hemp oil for pain is perhaps the most commonly reported use of cannabidiol by patients. Clinical research into how cannabidiol affects our experience of pain is still in its early days, however, studies have found that CBD helps alleviate both inflammatory and neuropathic pain. Research has also shown that a combination of cannabinoids and opioids is stronger than opioids alone. This suggests that supplementing with cannabinoids like CBD, can help patients suffering from chronic pain reduce opioid dosage.

One way in which CBD products may dampen pain is by inhibiting the release of inflammatory agents like glutamate. These effects make cannabidiol able to diminish the burning, prickling and tingling sensations often associated with neuropathic or nerve related pain as well as pain related to inflammation.

Unlike traditional anti-inflammatory drugs, cannabidiol oil has an anti-inflammatory mechanism that is unique to the cannabis plant. Studies show that compared to anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals like Ibuprofen, cannabinoids like CBD and THC are up to twenty times more potent at reducing inflammation. Transdermal application, or rubbing a hemp body butter directly onto your skin is an alternative to oral consumption capable of targeting specific pain points.

Hemp CBD and Anxiety

In higher doses, CBD exhibits sedative properties. Evidence from both animal and human studies strongly supports a broad range of anxiolytic or anxiety reducing effects brought on by CBD. Neuroimaging research has demonstrated that cannabidiol is able to achieve its calming effects by changing the activity of brain regions that normally mediate anxiety.

Hemp CBD and Sleep

Anecdotal evidence strongly suggests the therapeutic potential of cannabidiol oil in promoting more restful sleep and reducing insomnia. Although CBD has been found to work as a stimulant in low doses, in higher doses it leads to sedation. These sedative properties are what led scientists to look into its effects on sleep disorders.

An early study by Carlini and Cunha showed that 160 mg/day of CBD resulted in increased total sleep time and less waking up throughout the night. This study found that cannabidiol produced no ‘hangover’ effects, but did decrease dream recall, which depending on the types of dreams you’re having, may not be a bad thing. A 2004 study supported these findings showing that higher doses of CBD were associated with sleep improvements. More recent studies have also found similar results and you can read about them here.

Hemp CBD and The Brain

Cannabinoids, both phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids, are increasingly being recognized for their roles in neural developmental processes. In recent years a large body of work has shown that cannabinoids have clear modulatory roles in adult neurogenesis or the formation of new brain cells.

One study published in 2011 by Esposito et al. found that CBD reduced Alzheimer’s induced neuroinflammation and promoted hippocampal neurogenesis in adult rats. Another study examining the effects of CBD on spatial learning and adult neurogenesis in female mice published in 2010 by Wolf et al. showed that CBD did not impair learning and increased adult neurogenesis.

A 2016 study by Schiavon et al. looked at the influence of single and repeated cannabidiol administration on emotional behavior and markers of cell proliferation and neurogenesis in non-stressed mice. The authors posed that the therapeutic effects of antidepressants and atypical antipsychotics may arise in part from their ability to trigger neurogenesis.

Cannabinoids Have A Long Medicinal History

CBD oil is not a new phenomenon in human existence and while it won’t get you high, over time it will probably make you feel pretty good. Humans and animals have a 12,000-year-old history with hemp, and the first recorded medicinal uses of CBD rich hemp products date back to China some 5,000 years ago when Emperor Shennong first documented the use and discovery of the healing properties of cannabinoids.

Unsurprisingly, from 1850 until 1937 before the advent of Big Pharma and patented pharmaceuticals the United States Pharmacopoeia listed Cannabis as the prime medicine for more than 100 different illnesses. By 1837 and until the enactment of the 2018 Farm Bill in December 2018, lobbyists not only wiped hemp from medical practice but made it wholly illegal as a Schedule I Controlled Substance.

Luckily, Colorado was one of the pioneer states to legalize medicinal and later recreational Cannabis use and as a result, it is perhaps the best state in the nation to get your hemp from today. This is not just because of our 300+ days of sunshine, clean air, and mountain water. Colorado has strict legal policies ensuring the highest purity and quality. Ned goes beyond these requirements to also test for contaminants and heavy metals.

As the political and medical climates are caving to the pressure of more people looking to ancient and natural remedies, full-spectrum hemp products have been making a comeback. The therapeutic potential of CBD products cannot be ignored and as more people discover that it helps them take on pain, inflammation, anxiety, sleep, and overall well being, the problems we can solve naturally with the help of cannabinoids will return to their former glory.

How Does Full Spectrum CBD Work?

Studies suggest that the hemp derived cannabinoid cannabidiol, aka CBD, exerts its effects by inhibiting the body from breaking down the endogenous cannabinoid anandamide. Often referred to as the bliss molecule, anandamide, is associated with the regulation of pain, happiness, inflammation, sleep, and much more.

CBD and other cannabinoids found in full-spectrum hemp extracts interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system. This system, which develops before we are even born, is present in every part of our body and exerts effects on every other system including the circulatory system, the muscular system, the pulmonary system, the skeletal system, the immune system, and the nervous system.

What Is the Endocannabinoid System?

600 million years in the making, the endocannabinoid system is an ancient communication network that resides in all animals except insects. It is responsible for maintaining homeostasis in our bodies and it does so by releasing its own endogenous, or body made cannabinoids when and where they are needed. For instance, if our body is sending pain signals, the endocannabinoid system will work to tune these down. If our body is experiencing decreases in happy neurotransmitters like dopamine, the endocannabinoid system will work to turn these up.

Where Do Ned’s Hemp Flowers Come From?

As you may have guessed, not all hemp oils are created equal. Ned’s single-source hemp CBD products all begin as carefully cultivated and organically grown hemp plants on a sunny Colorado farm that utilizes biodynamic principles and practices. Biodynamic farming is a slower, gentler way of working in tune with the land.

Biodynamic farming follows over 40 years of research into the effects of the moon, stars, and planets on plant growth. Biodynamic farming takes an organism view of the farm, using only hyper local solutions like the delicate balance between earthworms who work the soil and the robins who eat them to maintain balance.

Whereas conventional farming degrades the quality of our land and water over time by employing toxic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and profit-based planting calendars, biodynamic farming focuses on continuous improvement of the farm ecosystem. Going one step further than organic by employing resources from within the farm and planting in tune with cosmic rhythms according to a time-tested calendar that focuses on earth’s natural processes over farm-profit schedules, biodynamic farming has a rich tradition founded in preserving and improving the earth we need to feed us.

These planting methods result in quality and purity unlike any other. We know because we test every batch that comes off the farm. You can find our latest batch certificates here.

Because hemp is a cleansing crop, meaning that it can absorb contaminants and heavy metals from the soil and has even been employed to help decontaminate areas such as Chernobyl, it is important to know where the hemp products you’re consuming come from. A farm with poor air and soil quality will produce a product of whose quality resembles that of its environment, while a thriving biodynamic operation with fresh air and clean Colorado water will yield a nutritious crop.

After our hemp is harvested, we dry and extract it slowly and without heat using food-grade organic ethanol at -40°F. This ensures that the heat-sensitive bioactive molecules responsible for hemp’s healing properties stay intact and are available for you to reap their benefits.
