Healing With Hemp Oil

Understanding the difference between hemp and marijuana and its healing properties

When you hear the words, ‘hemp oil’, what does if make you think of? Many associate hemp with marijuana. While both hemp and marijuana are derived from the cannabis plant family, they are grown for different uses, and each require different growing conditions. Hemp is typically grown outdoors and is a tall plant without flowering buds. Hemp was used by early civilizations to make a variety of foods, oils, and textiles.

Hemp can legally be sold in all 50 of the United States, as long as it meets federal regulations and guidelines (more on that below). Well-known retailers such as Amazon and Walmart carry various hemp products, and hemp festivals are becoming popular. One of the premier providers of Hemp oil and fastest growing is a Houston based company, which has found a way to increase the absorption rate into the body by the use of a Nano-Enhanced Liposomal Oral Delivery.

Why is hemp not marijuana?

Let’s breakdown the big difference between hemp and marijuana plants.

All cannabis plants contain a unique compound called cannabinoids. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the most well known of the cannabinoids, something the hemp plant contains very little of. While marijuana contains high levels of the psychoactive chemical THC, the hemp plant produces more CBD (cannabidiol). Thus the difference between marijuana and hemp are the levels of these two cannabinoids. THC is credited with causing the marijuana high, while CBD is credited as more of a healing property which does not produce hallucinations or mind-bending experiences. In order to classify as marijuana,THC levels are anywhere from 5 to 30 percent. In comparison, to classify as hemp, the THC level must be less than 0.3%

What is the connection between hemp and the human body?

Hemp is fastly becoming an accepted plant-based superfood. Studies have shown that hemp’s CDB properties relate to the Human Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS (the largest receptor system in the human body) consists of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors located in the brain and through the central and peripheral nervous systems Wikipedia states, “The ECS, known as “the body’s own cannabinoid system”, is involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory, and in mediating the psychoactive effects of cannabis. The ECS is also involved in voluntary exercise and may be related to the evolution of the runner’s high in human beings.

Hemp stimulates the two types of cannabinoid receptors in our body: CB1 and CB2. Activation of these receptors initiates intracellular biochemical reactions which boost our immune system and decrease inflammation throughout our entire body. The CB1 receptors are primarily dominant and located on nerve cells in the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system which is why cannabinoids relieve symptoms such as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, nausea, vomiting, memory processing, chronic pain regulation and motor control. The CB2 receptors are mainly found on white blood cells throughout all the organs of our entire body and these are the more important receptors as they provide therapeutic benefits.

Are there benefits from using hemp?

Studies have shown that hemp does offer benefits, as it can act as an anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea support product, and may even aid in preventing nerve loss or damage. Hemp has also been linked to aiding with psychological disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. In May of 2017, CNN reported on The New England Journal of Medicine’s study findings that CBD aided in reducing seizures in kids with rare epilepsy. “Among children taking cannabidiol, the decrease in the frequency of convulsive seizures – which involve a loss of consciousness, stiffened muscles and jerking movements — was 23 percentage points greater than the decrease in seizures among children taking a placebo.” (Source CNN)

There is not a lot of research surrounding cannabis and cannabinoids due to legalities. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved Cannabis as a treatment for cancer or any other medical conditions. However, the National Cancer Institute of America recognizes that cannabinoids (CBD) may have benefits in the treatment of cancer-related side effects.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon, professor, and an Emmy award-winning chief medical correspondent had this to say about hemp, “The science is there. This isn’t anecdotal. We have been terribly and systematically misled for nearly 70 years in the United States.“ For long term health and wellness use, CBD is one of the best ways to keep a body healthy.

Although cannabis plants have been a controversial at best, there is a large desire for plant-based medicine. With an opioid epidemic in America, patients and consumers are seeking alternative medicines, such as hemp.

Health and wellness is at the forefront of conversation in many realms today, and there are breakthroughs happening for people with the use of hemp.

Whether you believe in hemp and its natural healing properties or not, it cannot be ignored that it is making a scene. From calming the mind to supporting a healthy immune system, many are seeking products that are legal and provide the best delivery systems. CBD Oil has shown to play a significant role to relieve the symptoms of at least 300 different illnesses and diseases.
